Easter Message from Sophie September 13, 2021 Easter has always been a special time for my family and I. My first memory of Easter was when I was just 5 years old. I was in France with my parents, where Easter eggs were sold by the local patisserie and came tied up with a beautiful ribbon, concealing lots of delicious goodies within the outer shell. My mother had tucked me up in bed, and thinking I was fast asleep, put the egg on the little chest of drawers in my bedroom. Little did she know that although my eyes were tightly closed, I was very much awake. Once she left the room, I tiptoed over to the chest of drawers, untied the yellow ribbon around the egg and polished off all the little chocolate eggs that were hidden inside the outer shell. Tying the ribbon back up to try and conceal the evidence was more of a challenge than I anticipated, as was the very sore tummy that I had that night! With my own children, I have always organised an Easter egg hunt. At 33, 32 and 26 years old, they still expect one, although I think this is more to humour me! This year was going to be my little granddaughter’s first one and I was so looking forward to sharing this tradition with her. My youngest daughter, Victoria, and I will now have to do this virtually, as Natasha and her family are in their home and my son, William is at his, in Toronto. Wherever you are, I wish you and your family a happy Easter and hope that we will all be able to return to celebrating it, as usual, next year.
