Shoe Fitting Guide

Here at Trotters, we pride ourselves on our expert shoe fitting service and in store, our staff are meticulously trained to measure children's feet and fit them to the correct shoes. We have also put together a quick and easy guide to help you learn how to measure your children's feet at home. It's really quite simple and is a good skill to have.

Measure at Home
Guide Image 1
  • Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor and ask your little one to stand on it in socks with feet slightly apart.
  • Carefully draw around the edge of the foot.
  • Measure the distance in millimeters from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe.
  • Always use the measurement of the longest toe - it's normal for feet to be slightly different in length.

  • Make a note of the measurements and add 10mm to allow for growth.
  • Repeat with the other foot.
